Sustainable Improvement of the Livelihood of People in Rural Areas of North Eastern Albania
The project aims to strengthen the organisational capacities of We Effect’s partner organisation AgroPuka, as a driving force for sustainable improvement of the livelihood of the people living in the rural areas of Northeast Albania. The project is directly contributing to increased income of the men and women from the rural communities, from farming and other activities, leading to improvement of their living conditions, their active engagement in advocating for change, mainstreaming of gender equality and full respect of human rights.
Community Empowerment for Sustainable Rural Development
The main objective of this project is support of We Effect’s partner organisation Agrinet. Agrinet serves as a strong network of farmers’ organisations, contributing to sustainable community development through provision of a wide range of quality services to the members of the rural communities. There is a strong focus on gender equality and human rights.
Sustainable Improvement of Livelihood of Roma Community in Albania
The focus of the project is on poverty reduction among the members of the Roma community in Albania, through organisational strengthening of We Effect’s partner organization Amaro-Drom.
The project is directly addressing the core challenges of the Roma community members, such as: lack of respect and fulfilment of their basic human rights, discrimination, unemployment, low agricultural outputs, absence of off-farm opportunities, and social exclusion from the society.
The project aims to strengthen Amaro-Droms’ organisational capacities for provision of business-oriented services and advocacy aimed at social inclusion of the members of the Roma communities and their economic empowerment.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Civil Society and Rural Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina (CiSaRD)
The project objective is to strengthen the capacities of civil society organisations and their networks to boost equal participation of rural women and men in local economic opportunities, advocate for their interests and contribute to policy harmonisation with the EU standards. The attainment of this objective will create an impact in terms of poverty and injustice reduction in rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project is directly addressing the identified core challenge, that the population from the rural areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the rural organisations, lack: capacity and mechanisms for sustainable local community development and improvement of livelihood, equally for women and men, as well as mechanisms for influencing public policy in its harmonisation process with the EU relevant policies and standards.
Through the project, well-structured interventions for rural development in rural areas of Kosovo are being implemented.
The project focuses on organisation and business development, gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, promotion of human rights, and reconciliation by inclusion of minority communities in the project.
More precisely the project aims to achieve sustainable rural development for women, men and youth, through promotion of equal opportunities for the rural communities of Kosovo, regardless their gender, ethnicity, or religion.
Progressive, Innovative and Inclusive NORDK
The key objective of this project is to strengthen the organisational capacities of We Effect’s partner organisation NORDK as a national network of organisations active in the domain of rural development. It promotes and supports the development of relationships and partnership between different sectors of the rural community in Kosovo through advocacy activities which contribute to sustainable rural development. The project also contributes to enhancement of women’s involvement through membership and active contribution in the decision-making processes.

Increasing the Institutional Capacities of NFFM to Represent and Deliver Relevant Services to its Members
The support to the National Farmers Federation of Moldova is divided into three components and contributes to fair and sustainable socio-economic development of the rural communities. The project started in 2018 and will be running throughout 2021.
The organisational development component focuses on introduction of good governance and democracy within the organisation, with strong focus on gender equality and the human rights-based approach, increased presence of the National Farmers Federation of Moldova in the field, and increased membership.
The business and production development component aims at: increased competitiveness of the NFFM members through implementation of the EU standards, improved access to markets, increased access to financial services, increased support to rural economic initiatives for rural women and young farmers (innovations) and increased resilience of the farmers to climate change.
The lobby and advocacy component promotes inclusion of farmers (both women and men) in decision making processes on local, national and regional level.
Supporting Sustainable and Inclusive Development in Rural Areas (SIDRA)
Through support in organisational development, the Federation of Agricultural Producers from Moldova (FARM) will be able to increase its capacity development, resources and services provided.
The project also contributes to the improvement of the livelihoods of the rural population, women empowerment and foresees targeted support for young farmers. The farmers are enabled to: benefit from emerging opportunities, increase their resilience through adopting good practices, access to finance, value chain integration, and better and fair policies – as well as aligning to EU democratic values through regional cooperation and promotion of European practices in rural development.
Institutional Support to National Federation of Farmers
The overall goal of the project is to support the National Federation of Farmers as a national network for lobby and advocacy, representing the farmers’ interests in the North Macedonia.
The project is structured on four pillars (regarding rural and agriculture development): organisational development, business development, lobby and advocacy, and gender equality.
The specific objectives include: socio-economic development of the rural areas, rural poverty decrease, fostering entrepreneurship for youth and women farmers, gender equality, adaptation of the farming to climate change conditions, expanding the markets for agricultural products and creation of legal and business framework for development of agriculture, support in regard to the EU accession processes etc.
From Disability to FoodAbility
The overall goal of the project is to contribute to improved livelihood and empowerment of people with disabilities and their families living in the rural areas of North Macedonia. Trainings for self-representation and advocacy are organised so that the voice of the disabled people can be heard. The aim is to get to an increased understanding and knowledge about the rights, needs and potential of the people with disabilities among themselves, their families, communities and authorities. This would lead to improved policies and support measures at local and national level. Special attention is payed to women with disabilities who are often subjected to double discrimination due to their gender and disability status and are more likely to live impoverished and isolated lives.
Institutional Support to Rural Development Network of the Republic of Macedonia and its Members
The overall goal of this project is increasing the institutional and organisational capacities of the Rural Development Network of the Republic of Macedonia (now Rural Development Network of North Macedonia) and its member organisations. The aim is improved performance for preparation and implementation of agricultural projects and cooperation with other community stakeholders. Important aspect of the programme is promoting gender equality and rural women’s rights on national and local level.
Empowering Roma Women in the Republic of North Macedonia
This project aims to improve the socio-economic status and social inclusion of Roma women in the country.
The focus is on the organisational development of the National Roma Centrum in gender equality and mainstreaming, economic empowerment of the Roma community, increased access to justice for Roma women, girls and boys, as well as advocacy based on a human rights-based approach on local and national level.
Capacity Development of the Balkan Rural Development Network to Become an Accountable Actor for Development of Sustainable Rural Areas in the Western Balkan Region
The overall goal of the project is for Balkan Rural Development Network to become an active and accountable actor that will contribute to sustainable socio-economic development of the rural areas in the Western Balkan region.
The project is focused on provision of organisational capacity building to the national rural development networks from the Western Balkan countries and members of the Balkan Rural Development Network. Emphasis is also placed on the increased participation of the women in the Balkan Rural Development Network and improved advocacy work of the rural women within the Western Balkan region.
Gender Equality in Rural Development (GERD)
The project is focused on mainstreaming gender equality in sustainable rural development and raising awareness about the importance of gender equality for the rural development on national and regional level.
The aim is to increase the capacities of the partner organisations in gender mainstreaming and advocacy in order to improve the status of the women from the rural areas. Also, the women and girls, members of the rural households, communities and rural organisations need to become aware of the principle of gender equality and rural women’s rights. Furthermore, the goal is for the policy makers and planners on municipal and national level to become aware of the importance of women’s rights to land, financial services, extension services, women’s participation in designing the policy and strategy processes and their active participation in rural development.

Technical Assistance on Study Circle Methodology to Partner Organisations (TASCO)
The project aims to relaunch the Study Circle method and to build capacities within the We Effect Europe Region Office and partner organizations. The aim is to connect adult learning through study circles with income generating activities, business development, peace and reconciliation and to create a regional online platform for sharing experiences and knowledge.
