In Moldova, We Effect supports partner organisations in organisational capacity development so they can be a strong voice in the Moldovan society representing the stands of their members and being able to provide them with high quality services. Through our partner organisations we provide farmer groups with trainings for women and men in gender equality, civic and political rights, as well as leadership and governance.

We also support our partners in their lobby activities for improving policies for rural economic development.

Partnership approach
We Effect collaborates with local partner organisations – which are member-based and represent the voice of the smallholder farmers and other vulnerable groups.

Jointly we advocate and work for economically, environmentally and socially sustainable agriculture and rural development with a gender perspective.

In Moldova, We Effect collaborates with two local partner organisations.

Multi-country programme
Our work in Moldova is part of the We Effect Europe multi-country programme (2018-2022), primarily focusing on sustainable rural development. The main emphasis is on national structures but also includes elements of regional processes, synergies and structures. The programme functions as a platform to promote sustainable dialogue and regional cooperation. The programme includes support to local organisations in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova and North Macedonia.

Projects
In Moldova, we are also working through two national projects:

Increasing the Institutional Capacities of NFFM to Represent and Deliver Relevant Services to its Members

Partner organisation: National Farmers Federation of Moldova (NFFM)

The project supports the organisational development of NFFM and its establishment as an organisation that is contributing to sustainable socio-economic development of the rural areas in Moldova. The organisational development component is focused on introduction of good governance and democracy within the organisation, with a strong focus on gender equality and HRBA, increased presence of NFFM on the field and increased membership.

In addition, the project has business and production development component, and a lobby and advocacy component. The business and production development component is aiming at increased competitiveness of the NFFM members through implementation of the EU standards, improved access to markets, increased access to financial services, increased support to rural economic initiatives for rural women and young farmers (innovations) and increased resilience of the farmers to climate change. The lobby and advocacy component is fostering inclusion of farmers (both women and men) in decision making processes on local, national and regional level.

Supporting Sustainable and Inclusive Development in Rural Areas (SIDRA)

Partner organisation: Federation of Agricultural Producers from Moldova (FARM)

The organisational development component of the project is focused on FARM turning into a leading organisation in rural development through ascending development of capacities, resources and provided services. In addition, the project aims to contribute to the improvement of the livelihoods of the rural population, women empowerment and foresees targeted support for young farmers. Assisting the farmers in benefiting from emerging opportunities and increasing their resilience by adopting good practices, access to finance, value chain integration, better and fair policies. The project also incorporates regional cooperation and promotion of European practices in rural development.
