Sights set on 2030
Our Global Strategy was developed with the SDGs in mind. The work of We Effect will directly contribute to the fulfilment of goals 1, 2 and 5, which commit to the eradication of poverty and hunger and to achieve gender equality by 2030.
We Effect’s strategic goal: “By 2021 women in partner organisations will have the same rights as men do to have access to financial resources and opportunity to own and control land”, was developed based on an analysis of which of the SDG targets constituted the best “match” to We Effect’s core working areas. The formulation of the strategic goal is We Effect’s attempt to align to Agenda 2030 based on the organisations value-addition as a development actor. The following SDG indicators directly relate to We Effect’s development programmes:
- SDG indicator 1.4.2: Proportion of total adult population with secure tenure rights to land.
- SDG indicator 2.4.1: Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture.
- SDG indicators 5.a.1 and 5.a.2: Proportion of total agricultural population with ownership or secure rights of agricultural land. Share of women among owners. Proportion of countries where the legal framework guarantees women’s equal rights to land.
We Effect does not aspire to provide detailed reporting on the SDG-indicators. Instead, the organisation will focus on a qualitative follow-up on an annual basis. Each region will be requested to analyse one specific aspect that will be used for learning together with the partner organisations and for advocacy work in Sweden.
We Effect’s Global Strategy will be evaluated in 2020 and based on the lessons learnt, the next strategy will be developed in 2021. We Effect envisages a total of three strategy periods until the accomplishment of the SDGs in 2030.
