Southern Africa

In Southern Africa, We Affect works at reducing poverty levels in our programme countries: Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, with rural areas being the primary focus.

In addressing this challenge, We Effect supports civil society partner organisations to empower women, men and youth living in poverty to improve their living conditions and defend their rights. We apply a right-based approach with a strong focus on women’s rights and reducing inequalities. By lobby and advocacy, We Effect and partners demand for secure land tenure, inclusive financial services, accountable natural resource governance, and improved housing and habitat. Together with our partner organisations, we contribute to reduced climate change and increased livelihood resilience, value addition, enterprise development and access to markets among small holder farmers. .
Southern Africa also has a regional programme across all the We Effect programme countries, on Sustainable Cotton for Women and Youth Empowerment in Southern Africa.
